Born in Moscow, Russia, and raised in Louisiana, America. Joshua Breaux was adopted at the age of two. He discovered his love for his culture and ethnicity several years ago. Joshua, 20, is of Tajik descent and has developed a strong attachment to his heritage. It turns out to be a lovely tale of how this all worked out and how he keeps doing it. An interview with Joshua reveals something lovely and that is the discovery.
Joshua, 20, has spent nearly his entire life in the United States. He was brought to a Russian orphanage soon after his birth in 2002, where he was given the name Eduard Nikolaivich. He moved to the United States after being adopted by an American family in 2004. That is when his adoptive parents named him Joshua Breaux. "Because I had no connection to my ethnicity, I knew practically nothing about the Tajik culture," Joshua explains. ' I didn't have anyone to tell me about my home country. Around the age of fifteen, I developed an interest in the country of my ancestors. I began researching Tajikistan as a hobby. I discovered more and I became increasingly interested in Tajikistan, its language and culture, which prompted the creation of a Facebook group. I met someone who was also of Tajik descent. She has told me and taught me a lot about Tajiks. I met several people with similar backgrounds in this way, mainly through that group. This group is called @culture_of_taijkistan, but I switched to Instagram after a while. I post TikToks about my ethnicity and how I embrace it here, among other things. Joshua posts TikTok videos in which he proudly shows the Tajik culture. He shares many facts about Tajikistan and shows all norms and values. He also shows how Tajik music sounds, which allows many people to become acquainted with Tajikistan. What is his overall purpose?
'There aren't many people of Tajik descent in the US. Because other communities are larger, people of other origins can easily connect to their culture. That was difficult for me because there are no communities, so I couldn't connect with my culture. It might be in big cities like New York City, but I live in Louisiana. It is true that things are a little more difficult here' Joshua stated. 'I want to give Central Asia more recognition so that people can recognise us more easily. I want to make people aware of Tajiks, but also of Central Asians in general, so that we can embrace our culture with greater pride.'
Family
'When I was two years old, I was adopted by a family from the United States." My family is from Acadia, and they are part of the Cajun inhabitants'. Acadia was a region in North America's northeast. In 1682, that area was a part of the French colony. This conquest left many French influences behind, so there are still individuals who speak French here.
Joshua himself explains the importance of patience. Finding his way to his culture and finding love for it did not come effortlessly. Joshua was patient throughout the process, and he advises others who are looking for connections to their roots to do the same. He had no connection to his country of origin as a child, so he knew nothing about the Tajik culture and language. Joshua, then seventeen, underwent a DNA test to determine his ancestry. He discovered that he was Tajik, not Russian. "My biological parents were both Tajiks who moved to Russia for work," Joshua explained. Many Tajiks went to Russia to work at the time, including Joshua's biological parents. ' I know who my biological mother is, and I have photos of her," Joshua explained. "To put it simply, I can contact her, but I won't until the right time comes'. Joshua discovered he had a sister thanks to this DNA test. ' To my great surprise, I discovered that my sister lives in Kansas, USA'. Joshua also did more research into this, which is how he met his sister, who was also adopted from Tajikistan. They appear to be biological siblings. These two are still in touch and doing well today.

Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan make up Central Asia. Afghanistan is a part of this because it's partly located in the south of Asia. However, when it comes to culture, these countries have a lot in common. ' Tajikistan is a country in Central Asia, and I notice that this region of Asia is underrepresented. When you tell someone you're from Central Asia, they often don't know which countries belong to that', Joshua explained. 'This country was never really mentioned in school, which made it seem mysterious'. 'At some point, I began to do more research into the country of my ancestors, and I discovered a lot'. Joshua was also fascinated by how much Tajik people looked like him. 'The chestnut eyes and the colourful patterns drew my attention, and I became increasingly intrigued'.
