When it comes to welcoming refugees, things are a little different in Amsterdam. Refugee Work Netherlands and the Municipality of Amsterdam work together actively. This collaboration serves several purposes. One of these motivations is to ensure that refugees are assisted until they can continue living on their own. Amsterdam has a one-of-a-kind refugee policy. How does this policy operate?
Refugees
Every year, hundreds of refugees arrive in the Netherlands after fleeing their homes and hearts. The Municipality of Amsterdam wants to help and support these people, which is why a unique Amsterdam approach has been evolved. In our city, there are two asylum seekers' centres: Amsterdam Nieuw-West and Amsterdam Houthavens. All refugees are interviewed by the Immigration and Naturalization Service during their stay in the asylum seekers' centres. If a refugee is actually allowed to remain in the Netherlands, he will be provided a residence permit and will be granted status. Following that, the The Municipality of Amsterdam will make a home available. The status holder is permitted to move into this house.
The societal role
The Municipality of Amsterdam will ensure that the status holder is given a place in Dutch society once he or she has a home. Consider an appropriate education, job, or comparable courses where the status holder could either study or work. The Municipality of Amsterdam accomplishes this with the assistance of client managers and jobhunter who assist these status holders. Each status holder is associated with a jobhunter. They then cooperate together to find a good job or a relevant education. The jobhunter will speak with the status holder several times and inquire about his or her interests. This way, a suitable job or training can be identified.
The Amsterdam Municipality does its best to assist the refugees while they get used to the system.
Refugeehelp.nl
Refugee Work Netherlands is also committed to welcoming refugees. This occurs almost immediately after they start arriving in the Netherlands. Refugee Work Netherlands recently launched a website where refugees can discover more about life in the Netherlands. On Refugeehelp.nl, you can learn about living and working in the Netherlands, as well as Dutch healthcare and education. This site is available in the Dutch, English, Russian, and Ukrainian language.
